Innovation in Wargaming Conference
Wargaming is a continually developing hobby and this conference is about developing wargaming and wargamers. The aim of the conference was to build on the success of the annual Conference of Wargamers run by Wargame Developments in Northamptonshire in the UK in July each year. The weekend consists of several plenary games, that bring all the conference delegates together, and then a number of sessions put on the people attending the conference. These sessions can be historical lecturers, current military topics or a whole range of different types of wargames. They can be any period or theme. Many, if not most of the games are not complete and they are the opportunity for what is often lively discussion about workings of the rules or more to the point how they can be improved.
Our aim has been to provide friendly, high quality events in unique locations that the general public often do not have ready access to.
The wargaming weekends are a collaboration between John Curry and Tom Smith MBE. Both have extensive hobby and
professinal wargaming experience
Wargaming Rules, the History of Wargaming Project
The wargaming rules are rules from the history of wargaming, some well known, some less so.Many of these rules were used by the military and most are hard and expensive to locate. Most have additional material to the original rules, such as ORBATs, period tactics or optional updates that were playtested to make the rules more suitable for modern wargamers and include various aides to help the wargamer starting playing as soon as possible. For example, the Fletcher Pratt Naval Wargaming rules have optional rules to speed the game up, an online ship card generator to take the effort out of building the ship cards the game needs etc...
